Sometimes I forget how lucky I am to live in such a gorgeous city. So gorgeous in fact, that thousands upon thousands of people travel to my city as tourists every year. It’s also a very popular wedding destination! San Diego boasts miles and miles of gorgeous beaches all along her coast and what better way to say, “I Do” than with the beautiful sea as your backdrop.

It was so amazing to photograph Emily and Mikey’s beach elopement session. It was the perfect day to get dressed up and celebrate all the things! Emily and Mikey have such a good meet-cute story. What’s a meet-cute you may ask? First of all stop reading this blog post and go watch The Holiday immediately, then come back and finish reading this. (Spoiler alert) Meet-Cute: In film or television – an amusing or charming first encounter between two characters that leads to the development of a romantic relationship between them. I’m a sucker for a good meet-cute?! I mean that’s the stuff chick flicks are made of and I love a good chick flick!

Emily was out celebrating a friend’s birthday party in the Gaslamp Quarter, while blocks away Mikey was visiting some friends that night. They ended up running into each other at a bar and got to talking. They hit it off so well that Mikey ended up just hanging out with Emily and her friends the entire night! Both of them weren’t really looking to date anyone at the time since both were busy doing their own thing, but you don’t have a good meet-cute for nothing. The next thing they knew, everything kind of just fell into place and they were dating! Fun Fact: Mikey said, “I love you” first, but Emily was totally ready to say it two months before he did!

Emily made such a gorgeous bride. She’s one of those people that is just effortlessly gorgeous. She has such a sweet smile and I’m kind of obsessed with her perfect nose! Is that weird? She has the sweetest laugh and such a fun personality. You can just see the love oozing off of these two, they just have so much fun together! So what’s next for these darlings with the good meet-cute? Mikey has orders to leave in August and will be bouncing around from different military stations on the East Coast with the Navy for about a year. (Thanks for your service Mikey!) Emily plans on meeting him out there in December once she’s done with nursing school. I see a magical future for these two just off the horizon.

PS. The water was really that blue!

BEHIND THE LENS

ABOUT VANESSA

There's no place like home. Ever-focused on beauty and the thrilling art of creation; believing that photographs make time travel possible.

My grandmother gave me my most prized possession the day I graduated high school. An album filled with photographs taken over her lifetime, dating back to the 1930's. A collective chronicling her life, my parents growing up, and my childhood. It's irreplaceable and nothing will ever be as meaningful. It became my 'why' and led me to pursue a college degree in photography, hoping to give this same gift to others.
