Look out Kardashians, you have some new Christmas Card competition this year! The Barragáns are winning Christmas cards this year on a local level for sure, but we’ll see how they do on the national celebrity circuit. Ha! The Barragáns know how to do quite a few things really well and one of them is definitely family pictures, that’s for sure! In all seriousness though we really had SO much fun taking these family portraits in their new backyard. They just finished the pool and were so excited to have pictures taken in their gorgeous new space and yours truly got the honor!
I absolutely LOVE that they followed my style guide to the max and took me seriously when I said ‘Say YES to the Dress’ and ‘There is no such thing as too dressed up’! Allison is probably the most stylish person I know. She works in finance, but honestly, she should probably be a stylist. In fact, I’m seriously considering adding her styling services as an a-la-carte item to my photography packages! She’s SO amazing at it and can fit any budget. Look at me already selling it! Bah!
I’ve known Allison, Luie, and Olivia since 2013 when I joined a CrossFit gym that they were also members of. Yep, we were those people. What’s your deadlift PR bro? Is that Paleo? Are the RX pull-ups in this WOD strict or kipping…ah, memories…when I was younger, thinner, blonder! Ha. Anyway we drank the Kool-Aid and we drank it hard! I remember the first time I saw Allison (aka CrossFit Barbie) I was like, whoa! Look how cool she is! She had the knee high stripped deadlift socks and she could do so many pull-ups in a row that I couldn’t believe it. She was like the popular girl in high school and I just wanted to be her friend!
Fast forward all these years later and we’ve remained good friends, unified by our love for the finer things in life, wine, and good conversation. I was so excited when Allison reached out to me about photographing this session for them when they finished the backyard and I got so excited as she shared her vision for everything. Seeing Olivia (who I’ve known since she was like a 9 year old running around the gym!) all gorgeous and glamorous was so much fun, and then Luie in his tux and those red bottoms tho! Haha. And needless to say, the matriarch Allison was a vision as always. I’m so beyond honored that they wanted me to capture these family memories, and that they wanted to look good doing it!
