QUIET OAK MANOR, JULIAN
This Quiet Oak Manor editorial was an absolute dream! Does anyone know where I can get a job just shooting editorials full time? That’s got to be a thing right?! I was so excited to be a part of this shoot because I knew the planning and styling was going to be top notch. It’s always so exciting to work with a dream team of creatives in your field. Everyone is soooo talented and to be able to get to photograph all that talent is nothing short of incredible. I was pretty much obsessed with every detail of this day, from the gorgeous invitation suite to the insanely gorgeous floral design. Everyone really had their best work on display and I kind of had one of those moments where I had to stop and think, “I can’t believe I’m here getting to photograph all of this magic!”
Our bride and groom couple for the day were the absolute sweetest and most genuine couple. I loved getting to spend the day with them and capture sweet moments between them on camera. They were truly so in love and it really showed! I had so much fun posing them, laughing with them and getting to know them. Editorials are so great that way because you can really shoot the way you want and completely for yourself. Real weddings are very different because you are there to serve the bride and groom and make sure you capture their day and moments in a way that tells their story. I’ve had a bride decide she wanted to shoot family portraits during the best light of the day when I would have much preferred to use that time to shoot bride and groom portraits. The simple fact of the matter was, it’s not about me and I’m there to serve my couples above all! With editorials it is entirely about me, muahahahahaha (evil laugh) just kidding! It’s about me, the other talented vendor’s and our combined vision, but there really is a freedom that comes with it and I think every photographer should treat themselves to a few editorials a year!
The only thing I wished was that we had more time! I could have spent days photographing all this gorgeousness. Valentina from V Party and Events did the most amazing job planning and styling everything! She was such a dream to work with and I can’t wait to work with her again. She had such a clear vision of the day and executed it seamlessly. I hope to shoot another editorial during the slow season next year! One day I’ll travel the world shooting editorials, haha, but until then, I hope you enjoy the magic we created right here in Julian!
