BALBOA PARK, SAN DIEGO
Carla and Ess traveled all the way from South Africa just for their Balboa Park portrait session with me! Okay, soooo that’s not entirely accurate, but I mean would you just look at these two, they were meant to be in front of my camera! (Insert so many heart eye emojis here.) So this was actually their first trip to the United States ever! And I got to photograph them! I’m just going to keep humble bragging about that so #sorrynotsorry in advance. Carla and Ess really made the most of their time here, stopping in Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, Los Angeles, San Diego, and New York City. How fun! I feel beyond blessed that I not only got to photograph them on their trip to California, but that I got to photograph them in my favorite place.
Balboa Park is so near and dear to my heart. It’s my absolute favorite place in all of San Diego and I was so thrilled when Carla reached out and asked about location ideas. I was so excited to show someone from another country, my favorite place in my hometown! What an honor to play tour guide and photographer to this wonderful couple. Carla and Ess are seriously the most adorable people ever. I feel like I hit it off with them right away when five minutes into meeting them we started talking about food. Haha! Carla and Ess were commenting on how amazing all the food they’ve been eating here is and how Carla was so surprised at the size of our ice cream cones. They are triple the size of the cones in South Africa, but that didn’t stop her from eating the whole thing! Hello vacation!
Right then and there I knew Carla was a woman after my own heart. Ess is just the greatest too. He laughed at all my dumb jokes and did this cute little tickle thing that would make Carla laugh! I loved it so much. These two were so easy and fun to photograph. I mean first of all they are absolutely adorable and second of all I don’t even feel like I did any work at all. They have spoiled me forever! Every time I’d put them in a pose they’d just naturally jump right into it. I kept telling them, “You guys are ruining me for any future sessions!” I literally just followed these two around and clicked a button.
Carla and Ess are my ideal clients through and through. I cannot thank them enough for choosing me to document these important memories and I cannot praise them enough for being so much fun to photograph. Editing this entire session was a dream! And no photographer ever says that, I swear! haha. Now I want to go visit Carla and Ess in South Africa! Hopefully they’ll let me photograph them again, one can only dream!
