There’s just something really special about an ethereal California beach elopement. California is famous in photography circles for our glorious light. It’s pours down and sun-drenches everything it touches and creates pure magic. Above all places, this light shines down the most on the shores of our beaches. This California light bathes all things in a sublte warm glow. It creates an ethereal beauty that you just can’t find anywhere else except right here in Southern California.
The light on this day in particular was so dreamy. If you scroll down far enough, you will see a girl on fire. I know a lot of other photographers who hate shooting on the beach. I adore it! It’s probably my favorite place to photograph engagement sessions and weddings. I guess it’s a good thing then that I’m a San Diego native, because the sun and sea are in my bones.
If you’re planning an ethereal California beach elopement of your own, there are so many amazing touches that you can add to truly make it all your own. Never underestimate the power of details and how they can be added to bring your wedding day together. For this beach elopement we tied in the colors of the ocean which made it feel themed, but without being too kitschy. It adds a sense of luxury and authenticity by keeping the details simple, but within a similar color palate.
Lastly, the best part of any beach day, or California beach elopement for that matter, is the amazing sunset! Where heaven meets earth and gives us just a peek at all its glory. Boy did we get quite a show, the sun was showing off a little for us I think. I will love photographing sun-drenched Southern California beach elopements always and forever.
